Getting back to our routine mean soreness

After a week of helping the in-laws do yard work and such, we started going back to the gym again. Unfortunately our bodies seemingly forgot how to handle working out. We both did the treadmill for 40 minutes but it was seemingly very difficult for us to do. Candace was able to do the treadmill but felt tired while doing it and worked at a slightly lower level than before we went down to PG. After a day, I realized that I was working out harder than I really should of. I was at between 5.5% and 6% grade at 4 MPH and I was hovering at the back of treadmill instead of the middle like I normally am. My ankle also started hurting again, but I pushed through it.

We then went over the elliptical machine where Candace was only able to do 10 minutes on it before her stomach started to feel queezy and I don't like the idea of working out to the point of feeling sickly so we decided to end our workout then. I did forget to bring Candace's water bottle, so I don't know how much that had to do with her queeziness.

I know that we didn't go to the gym for nearly a week, but I kind of surprised that we both had such a difficult workout. Its not like we sat around watching Oprah and ate bon bons all week, so I have no idea why our workout was so painful, for the lack of a better word. Has anyone else had an experience like that? I can't remember feeling this way when I worked out when I was younger, but that was nearly 10 years ago and my brain has a 5 year capacity.

Candace's work schedule has been crazy this week, so we will work in going to the gym with her work schedule. I am going to be starting my own business in the next couple of weeks, so if anyone knows any real estate companies that do property management as well please let me know. I plan to do take pictures of rental properties and maybe do some maintenance work around the property as well. I can remember looking for a place and a lot of places had either no pictures of the property or poor pictures where I couldn't figure out what room it is. So i figured that there is a market for this. Sorry for the job pitch, but I am a little excited about it. Don't worry I am still going to school, but sitting around all day looking for work is getting old.

Until next time....

I am going to be sore tomorrow

Hello all,

Today I went to the Gym after I had a lite breakfast of cereal and coffee.  I have a slight competitive streak in me and when I actually set a goal on fitness I tend to get a little gung-ho about getting fit.  I also forget that I now 35 and not 25, which as much as don't like to admit is quite a big difference.

I did 25 minutes (including my cool down period) and then tried my luck on the StairMaster, as I affectionately call, the zen stairs to hell. I had to set it a what I think is a very slow rate, about 2.2 flights of stairs a minute for 20 minutes plus 5 for a cool down and let me tell you it kicked my butt.  Yeah I supposedly burnt off some 350 calories but my legs were very angry at me as soon as I got off the machine.  I remember being able to do at much higher speed and longer when I was in my 20's, being in my 20's is the phrase to for me to remember.

When I was in my 20's I was going to the gym 4-5 times a week or I was training for a bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Now walking 2 miles tires me out.  I will not be trying the stair master for a few more weeks, or unless by Friday I can reverse the aging process by a decade or so. I need to remember that a reasonable workout is much more effective than an ass-kicking workout. Especially so early in the process.  Damn my ego that wont let me remember that I not as young as I used to be.

I will talk the dogs on a short walk this afternoon to stretch my legs and a moderate walk (if I can walk) thursday. Friday should be an interesting post, so stayed tuned.... Until later
