It's never too late...

It's been a long time...and we were politely demanded upon that we start actively blogging again, so that is what we'll do.  I can go on and on about the excuses as to why we haven't kept up with this blog...but realistically, all they are is excuses.

When we decided to take on our new business, we said we wanted a work life balance. Yeah...unless you know what you are in store for, you can say whatever you want, but it doesn't mean anything.  It can though...you just have to be the one in control.

With one year behind us, we know what we are up against this summer (summer is our busy season), but we choose to be in control of our balance and choose to re-evaluate our priorities and stick to them.

This of course includes our health.  We've let our health...really for lack of a better word - deteriorate since I originally started this job...and even more so when we took on the business.  Let me tell you, dragging 30-50 lbs of photography equipment through houses and up and down stairs, up and down hills, over large estates of property is HELL when you also carry so much body weight too.

Since I know most of the people who follow this blog, most of you know that I just turned 30 and Kurt is going to be 40 in a couple of years.  We don't want to be heavy anymore.  The bottom line is that we won't enjoy what short lives we'll end up having.  Morbid, yes, but also a reality.

It's going to take us a little bit to get this blog rolling back into the same fashion it was before, but it will.  We are TIRED of giving up on things.  We are always looking for help and guidance too...as the original point of this blog was not only be accountable to ourselves, but to others (its the people pleaser in us - hehe). Even if that help is a reminder - "I haven't seen a post in a couple of days." - we don't care...bring it on!! :)

We've already begun to implement a better diet, which mostly means that we started cooking at home more regularly then going out, but I'll discuss that at another time - maybe later today...we'll see.

I do have to say thank you to our family and friends who are always reminding us to take care of ourselves (some more bluntly than others, but we still love you anyways).

Until later,

Getting back to our routine mean soreness

After a week of helping the in-laws do yard work and such, we started going back to the gym again. Unfortunately our bodies seemingly forgot how to handle working out. We both did the treadmill for 40 minutes but it was seemingly very difficult for us to do. Candace was able to do the treadmill but felt tired while doing it and worked at a slightly lower level than before we went down to PG. After a day, I realized that I was working out harder than I really should of. I was at between 5.5% and 6% grade at 4 MPH and I was hovering at the back of treadmill instead of the middle like I normally am. My ankle also started hurting again, but I pushed through it.

We then went over the elliptical machine where Candace was only able to do 10 minutes on it before her stomach started to feel queezy and I don't like the idea of working out to the point of feeling sickly so we decided to end our workout then. I did forget to bring Candace's water bottle, so I don't know how much that had to do with her queeziness.

I know that we didn't go to the gym for nearly a week, but I kind of surprised that we both had such a difficult workout. Its not like we sat around watching Oprah and ate bon bons all week, so I have no idea why our workout was so painful, for the lack of a better word. Has anyone else had an experience like that? I can't remember feeling this way when I worked out when I was younger, but that was nearly 10 years ago and my brain has a 5 year capacity.

Candace's work schedule has been crazy this week, so we will work in going to the gym with her work schedule. I am going to be starting my own business in the next couple of weeks, so if anyone knows any real estate companies that do property management as well please let me know. I plan to do take pictures of rental properties and maybe do some maintenance work around the property as well. I can remember looking for a place and a lot of places had either no pictures of the property or poor pictures where I couldn't figure out what room it is. So i figured that there is a market for this. Sorry for the job pitch, but I am a little excited about it. Don't worry I am still going to school, but sitting around all day looking for work is getting old.

Until next time....
