Getting back to our routine mean soreness

After a week of helping the in-laws do yard work and such, we started going back to the gym again. Unfortunately our bodies seemingly forgot how to handle working out. We both did the treadmill for 40 minutes but it was seemingly very difficult for us to do. Candace was able to do the treadmill but felt tired while doing it and worked at a slightly lower level than before we went down to PG. After a day, I realized that I was working out harder than I really should of. I was at between 5.5% and 6% grade at 4 MPH and I was hovering at the back of treadmill instead of the middle like I normally am. My ankle also started hurting again, but I pushed through it.

We then went over the elliptical machine where Candace was only able to do 10 minutes on it before her stomach started to feel queezy and I don't like the idea of working out to the point of feeling sickly so we decided to end our workout then. I did forget to bring Candace's water bottle, so I don't know how much that had to do with her queeziness.

I know that we didn't go to the gym for nearly a week, but I kind of surprised that we both had such a difficult workout. Its not like we sat around watching Oprah and ate bon bons all week, so I have no idea why our workout was so painful, for the lack of a better word. Has anyone else had an experience like that? I can't remember feeling this way when I worked out when I was younger, but that was nearly 10 years ago and my brain has a 5 year capacity.

Candace's work schedule has been crazy this week, so we will work in going to the gym with her work schedule. I am going to be starting my own business in the next couple of weeks, so if anyone knows any real estate companies that do property management as well please let me know. I plan to do take pictures of rental properties and maybe do some maintenance work around the property as well. I can remember looking for a place and a lot of places had either no pictures of the property or poor pictures where I couldn't figure out what room it is. So i figured that there is a market for this. Sorry for the job pitch, but I am a little excited about it. Don't worry I am still going to school, but sitting around all day looking for work is getting old.

Until next time....

Home Means...Getting Back to the Routine

Hello all...we have returned from California...which on top of getting to sleep in our own bed (yea!!) means that our routine begins again.

We weren't necessarily bad while away...it's just much harder to try and track our food as well as exercise...especially since we were there to "work" (Kurt did much more work than I did, especially if you ask my sister Kirstin.)  When we got our work done, we were able to try to get some exercise in.  Saturday, we went on a ±3.6 mile (total) walk around the yacht harbor in Santa Cruz with Kurt's parents before and after breakfast and then went on a walk through Fall Creek in Felton with our friends, Lisa and Kevin (which we couldn't really track how far because you can't see the trail through the trees.)

All in all the week was good considering it was semi-vacation like.  We didn't snack too much, ate decent meals (minus wanting pizza on Friday) and tried to remember to make good decisions.

However, our semi-vacation habits started slipping into today a bit.  You can't go to Santa Cruz without picking up some salt water taffy, which we've been snacking on a bit today...and the heat today...well, I got a craving for a Slurpee (bad, Candace, bad - and of course Kurt gave in) ... so all I can say is tomorrow is another day - start again.

Tomorrow is also a gym day.  We made it to the Monterey Sports Center last week, and I can't remember if Kurt blogged about it last week, but we really didn't enjoy it.  We worked harder than we do at home and the machines said we burned a lot less calories as well as were working at lower METs.  I am so happy to get back to our gym tomorrow...I missed it.

Anyway, we have to get up early to go to the gym, so we'll be going now.  Luckily, I'm working in the evenings this week, so I can get to the gym still.   Just a few thoughts...had a good time in PG and SC...it was good to see those of you we saw.  Trevor, glad I got to talk to you the other day...hope you are being safe, and thanks for spending some of your "free time" checking our progress.  So happy Cassie is home!!  I'll stop by soon...I figure your children are being smothered by their grandparents anyway and you are being smothered by your sister.  Thanks to all of you sending your advice and support!!  Its been really motivating!
